Motor Trends Test car seemed to like hit a wall and get super heat soaked. Anyone hear murmurs of this issue in forums and such? I’m curious on what’s happening with it.

Stock PCM yanks a lot of timing when things get hot IIRC. GM did that for emissions purposes. A tune goes a long way.

I heard in an early track test of the C7 that after a few laps on a hot day it will start pulling timing and lose a lot of power.

apparently the new vettes have BAD issues with heat soak and overheating when driven hard for a long period of time. That one probably is going in to limp mode, as to not shit itself and throw a rod or something

Did the CTS-V have any issues? Same engine, same power, heavier car. Maybe the CTS-V has better cooling. Interesting situation. I wonder how many miles are on the Z06. I recall hearing that GM set the car up so that within the break in period it would reduce power if driven hard for more than a couple laps.

They didn’t have the CTS-V in this years they had the ATS-V

Oh, that must have been some other hot lap event I was reading about. I didn’t actually watch this video.

Well I retract my statement cause I just found it in the video. they made no mention of it going weird. but then again it was an auto not a stick. Maybe it was the 7-Speed giving out on the track?

Ah ok. It’s a real shame that the Z06’s have this issue. Especially since the Z07 package is intended for the track! Hopefully they can correct it for the next model year.

They definitely had both the CTS-V and the ATS-V.

I am amazed the GT4 didn’t win.

2015 Z06 has an LT4

2015 CTS-V is an LSA

Not the same engine.

They will do what GM does best. Recall it and fixit.

I’ve read a few articles about them running hot and engine failures. GM telling owners to change the oil after first 500 miles because of contamination.

Google “Corvette engine failure”.

The z06 seems to have cooling issues. GM put out a statement a while ago saying that the ECU cuts power for reliability reasons. They also implied that getting an aftermarket tune to remove the cuts was your prerogative. If I owned one, I would just find a place to mount an auxiliary oil cooler.
